I've only been there once and it stays that way. The boss was very rude and the food was okay at best. You shouldn't even stop at Schlemmerblock. That was before the pandemic.

We had reserved a table for 2 people for Saturday evening. When we arrived there was already a tense atmosphere among the receiving staff. After assigning our table, we put a 3rd chair, which was on a stack of unused chairs, at our table to put the handbag / jacket on. After 1 minute the "boss" came and told us in an unfriendly tone to put the bag on the wall, because no chair was necessary for this. We then wanted to put the chair back, whereupon we were hit harshly that the chair should now stop. Then we lost our appetite and we left this locality on the spot. Unfortunately, we cannot assign negative stars that would be appropriate for such outrageous treatment.

We had reserved a table for two and actually did not want to sit at a table with strangers, despite the advice that we would like to stay alone and that no one should sit down with us, the landlady informed us that this was the case in the Rheingau and that we only reserved two chairs and not the entire table (two more chairs). This should be communicated when making a reservation by phone if a couple is reserving a table for two and would like to eat together. Especially when you can't even offer a table for two. Very nice rustic ambience with good food and really friendly service. We were here for the first time yesterday and we were very pleasantly surprised. In the middle of the green you will find the Gutsschänke near Eltville Martinsthal. Very friendly service was immediately noticed. The map is clear and you should definitely ask for the day ticket. We had the schnitzel with fresh mushrooms and the baked potato with rumpsteak strips. We can recommend both. On the terrace you sit very nice and protected from the wind. Conclusion: good food and local wine in a rustic atmosphere for a good price.

Whether it's a schnitzel or a fine salad with sheep's cheese in a sesame crust - everything tastes fresh and delicious here. In addition, the right wines from the area and a very friendly boss. People like to go there several times. Dogs are welcome!
